Whether you are planning to move to a new location or are away from home and find yourself or family member in need of a good chiropractor, we can offer some basic guidelines.
The first thing that you must do, is find a chiropractor whose main goal is correcting subluxations in the office. You need a doctor that is willing to find and correct the spinal problems, not just treat the symptoms. A chiropractic office that is corrective based will be harder to find than one that treats only symptoms.
Here are a few basic questions that you should ask the chiropractor or office manager BEFORE making an appointment:
- Is the office a subluxation based practice? (you want YES)
- Do you use traditional manual adjustment? (you want YES)
- Does the doctor dictate care or does the patient? (you want a doctor that has you on a strict treatment schedule to be effective)
- Do you offer wellness care once correction is achieved? (you want YES)
- Do you have financial plans and/or family plans? (you want YES)
- Is the technique used to adjust corrective in nature or simply pain management?
If you get the proper responses, then make an appointment for a consultation with the doctor and see if you like what you see. The doctor should be very specific on what he/she will be doing and provide a detailed care plan for you to follow to regain good health. Always go with how you feel. If it doesn't "feel" right, it's usually for a reason.
